Containment Protocols: RPC-144 is to be contained in a standard medium-sized RPC Anomalous Object lockbox. All usage of the RPC must be catalogued in an accompanying notebook, including the following details:

  • What menu options were altered on the subject.
  • By how much, if identifiable. Vague numbers are preferred over unknown or unapplicable answers.
  • The change in said characteristics on the subject themselves.
  • The lethality of said change(s).

Cadaver experimentation utilizing RPC-144 is prohibited with the exception of research purposes. Any attempts must be recorded and containment protocols will be updated to reflect such changes, pending a successful revive. The user at the time must submit themselves to a full interview regarding the events and the outcome of the revival.

Description: RPC-144 is a musical string multi-instrument of unknown origin and of similar size to a violin, created using an unknown metallic element1. The instrument is made up of 2 known parts housed on an assembly, which will be known as RPC-144-A. The instruments, labelled RPC-144-B and -C, are as follows:

  • A 2 string piece, wielded in standard violin style (RPC-144-B) as seen in the image above.
  • A 1 string piece, housed on the opposite side of RPC-144-B and usable as either a guitar or a cello-like instrument (RPC-144-C).

When employing RPC-144-B in use, a holographic display will appear from the furthest end to the user and displays relevant information in an appropriate user-friendly manner2.

RPC-144, when active, will alow its user to modify any being of the same genus' biology (i.e. only Homo sapiens can modify Homo sapiens) in multiple ways including height, weight, hair, eye colour, skin colour, sexual orientation and sexual identification, as well as [REDACTED] and life. This is done by selecting an initial subject, hereby referred to as RPC-144-D. Using RPC-144-B, the user can select who will become an instance of RPC-144-B, and confirm by playing one note on RPC-144-C. Their choice will reflect on the holographic display by highlighting them.

What they can modify is represented by menu options extending from -D on the HUD (following the order of left to right, top to bottom in terms of choice movement) and may also be selected by playing on RPC-144-B for selection and confirming with -C. From there, a variety of sliders, binary choices and fields will be available. Sliders can be interacted with by playing -B ordinarily, binary choices by plucking either string to to set them to each choice and fields by speech. When finished, or if desiring to modify further, RPC-144 must be set down in order to deactivate and render RPC-144-D no longer a subject. In the case of human subjects, fields may be altered via a touch-activated holographic keyboard. It will only appear when attempting to play -C on a field.

Known menus on the device are as follows:

As advised by Head Researcher Vulte (see Experiment Log 144-D for further details), RPC-144 is not to be tested on cadavers save for research purposes due to unknown resource costs and uncertain outcomes. Permission for testing against disease-based and other sentient RPCs pending.

1. Study of the material has hinted at a number of protons equal to ███ and █ electron shells, aligning itself with the 8th grouping of elements. It appears to have relations with the platinum family of metals, being lustrous and inert to the majority of materials, with its high density rendering it highly resistant to damage. Testing of other elements or compounds on RPC-144 has been declined out of concern for damage to the device.
2. When attempted to use by someone with no knowledge of any kind of language of communication (itself a difficult task to procure such a person),RPC-144 will not activate. When attempted by someone who knows sign language, RPC-144 will use the equivalent of their written language. When used by someone who is blind and knows Braille, RPC-144 will instead modify the grip in order to present information to the user with Braille. How RPC-144 is able to gain and represent this language is currently unknown.
3. The material appears to be made in such a way that it allows for flexible movement whilst acting like nano-sized 'plate armor'. This modified skin still acts like natural skin, allowing for perspiration and similar processes. Hair is unaffected.
4. This affects the capability to identify beings using non-intravenous means such as blood testing, i.e. fingerprints, hair DNA, etc.
5. Affects whether the teeth are children's teeth or not. When an adult, adult teeth will almost immediately begin to push through if set to active. When a child, adult teeth will push through at the normal rate - leaving the child potentially toothless - if inactive.
6. This only affects the redness of one's skin due to increased blood vessel activity/size.
7. the body were otherwise unmodified exception for composition - aluminum, steel and igneous rock. Bodies were studied and later scheduled for incineration.
